I beg to differ. Last week Al and I spent time on a houseboat with our friends and their 4 gorgeous children and came away relatively unscathed and quite relaxed.
I thought instead of sharing every detail about the holiday that I would share with you some of the 'child-related' wisdom that I learnt over the week.....
- Never underestimate the value of colouring in books and other activities during long stints in a confined space!
- Weetbix is a great breakfast
- Kids will drink water and eat fruit - no matter what they say
- A small amount of 'time-out' in front of the TV can be good for parental stress levels
- "Thomas needs be blue and Percy needs be green" (ie from Thomas the Tank Engine - this was what Nick kept saying to me during colouring in time)
- "I can't" is not an acceptable answer to a question (Nick is also going through an' I can't' phase)
- A poo-ey bum is uncomfortable (I mean, you imagine sitting around in that!)
- Don't start the 'they drop it, you pick it up' game - it will never end
- Cranium Hullabaloo is a great game for kids (its works in a small space and it uses lots of energy!)
- Early to bed, early to rise may work for some but it does not make me healthy, wealthy and wise!
Overall it was a great holiday and I've got some great pics. You can see them here.
Well, over and out (for now)
