Well not just yet, but as of 16 July when I start working for Lihir Gold. 'But you already have a job', I hear you say. Not anymore! I resigned on Friday. And it is one of the most liberating things I have done in my life.
So its bye bye Rio and hello LGL. Farewell blackberry attached to my hip like a siamese twin and hello normal life. Au revior stress and hello work/life balance. Can you tell I'm happy about this? Well I'm not, I'm ecstatic! Only four weeks to go with Rio and then I am onto new ground with Lihir. Its going to b very exciting as they don't have an internal communications function to speak of at the moment and they want me to start from scratch.
Unfortunately this change also means no more trips to Gove. I thought long and hard about this in making my decision and I think its time for this chapter in my life to close and another to begin. I will miss all my friends in remote north-east Arnhem land but I know that it won't be the last time I visit.
The next four weeks are going to be a little crazy as I close off things and prepare to handover the job to someone else, so you might not hear much from me. But the grass is definately greener on the other side, there is light at the end of the tunnel (and any other analogy I can think of) so stay tuned for more of my crazy adventures.
