Row row row your boat

Thankfully there was no rowing to be had on the first De Rooy family trip in our little boat. Now that we actually had a kiddy lifejacket, Al decided it was high time we took Miri out in the boat for an adventure across to a tiny island in Melville Bay called "The Granites".

Along for this adventure were friends of ours, Andre & Caroline and their 3-month old daughter Lucia (who incidentally shares my birthday!).

So, the six of us set out in Al's 4.2 metre tinny across the bay onto a glorious beach. Miri was scared stiff and had her dummy for the entire trip as we bounced and splashed on the relatively calm waters. Lucia slept peacefully, a welcome relief for her parents I am sure.

Once on dry land we set up in the shade for afternoon tea.

The 'Granites Gang'

I got in some 'newborn' practice with a cranky-pants Lucia (hot and tired, the poor little thing), helping out Caroline in her invalid state, whilst Andre and Al explored the island.

Miri enjoyed splashing in the little pool created by the low tide

After her swim Miri was ready to go again. Despite her fears when actually in the boat, Miri was beside herself with excitement at the prospect of going in Daddy's "big big big boat"

Upon the success of this trip I have a feeling Al is planning many more De Rooy family boat adventures.
